2 Little Girls Died and 2 in Critical Condition after a 5-alarm Fire Broke out in New Jersey

Two little girls killed and two adults in critical condition at the hospital in a massive fire broke out in Monday Elizabeth, New Jersey, the city's mayor said.

The five-alarm fire started inside a building with mixed commercial and residential, with a business on the ground floor and homes above, at the corner of Elizabeth Avenue and Jacques Street, the city said.

Officials say a blaze broke out Monday around 6 p.m. inside a baby store on Elizabeth Avenue.

It took around 100 firefighters to make the fire under control.

The fire and police department did a miraculous job early, but the smoke overcame them," Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage said.

Witnesses said blasts of helium tanks could be heard exploding inside the building amid the blaze. The building that caught fire housed a store that sold party supplies.

The identities of the children or adults were not immediately made available.
