"We are not safe in Donald Trump's America"- Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Recent Chaos

Sen. Amy Klobuchar ,  lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Minnesota said Sunday that people are “not safe in Donald Trump’s America,” pointing on the recent protests and violence engulfed America amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are not safe in Donald Trump's America,” she added. “Not only have we seen an increase in hate crimes, not only have we seen increases in crime, but we have seen 3,600 people die during the Republican Convention, Jonathan. Now over 180,000 people that died from this coronavirus.”

“This isn't just happening in one place,” the former 2020 presidential candidate noted on ABC’s “This Week.” “It's happening all over the country. It is happening under Donald Trump's watch.”

“So, no, we are not more safe,” she said. “And I think Joe Biden has a very strong case to make about the changes he will make to make this country more safer.”

“I have long condemned looting, violence, threats,” she said. “That's not peaceful protests. And I don't care who's engaging in it, you condemn it. And, of course, Joe Biden has clearly condemned it.”

The Minnesota senator also remarked  the president’s condemnation of how his supporters were treated by protesters, whom he called “a bunch of thugs,” outside of the White House after his nomination acceptance speech.

Klobuchar’s comments come as protests over police brutality have erupted in Kenosha, Wisconsin after shooting of Jacob Blake, black man and riots and shooting continued in Portland, Ore. and Minneapolis, leading to some fatal shootings.
