India Prepares for Independence Day Celebrations While Pakistan Celebrates their Freedom

Pakistan is celebrating its Independence Day on Friday August 14, with rallies across the country at the same time Indians are geraing up for Independence Day celebrations for Saturday August 15. 

India and Pakistan attained freedom from the British colonial rule on August 15. They celebrated their first Independence Day on the same day in 1947. However, Pakistan later advanced its Independence Day by a day.

In Pakistan Independence Day, President Arif Alvi used the occasion to assure whom he called the “resilient people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir” that Pakistan will “continue to support them in their just struggle for their right to self-determination as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council resolutions."

Prime Minister Imran Khan said in his holiday statement, “The day is an occasion to pay tribute to all those sons of the soil who laid their lives while defending and protecting territorial as well as ideological frontiers of the motherland.”

 Indians are in their 74 th Independence Day celebration mood. India celebrating their 74 th Independence Day on August 15 of this year 2020.

The preparations of the Independence day are going in the Red Fort in New Delhi. Lighting decors are ready to cherish the Freedom. 

On this day, the Prime Minister of India will hoist  tricolour flag at the Red Fort, Old Delhi. He will also deliver a speech to the nation as well.

 However, all cultural programs and school celebrations won't occur this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Independence day i.e. the 15th of August is declared as a national holiday which means every government office, post offices, banks and stores will remain shut.
