Coronavirus UK: 3 New Deaths and More than 1000 New Cases for the Fifth Consecutive Day

UK Covid Update

A further three people died - the lowest increase on a Saturday - as 1,012 new positive tests for Covid-19 were confirmed in the previous 24-hour period, taking Britain's total to 317,379 since the outbreak began.

Restrictions were eased further in England as France, the Netherlands and Malta were added to the UK's travel "red list" meaning people arriving from those countries must quarantine for 14 days.

Theatres, casinos and soft play centres in England have been allowed to reopen for business from today. "Close contact" beauty treatments are also permitted again, along with small wedding receptions.

British holidaymakers have been told they must wear face masks while on beaches in the Canary Islands in Spain, which was put back on the "red list" last month due to a spike in cases.
