Breaking--Remco Evenepoel Suffers Horror Crash into a Ravine at Il Lombardia Race

Remco Evenpoel crashed over the barriers and into a ravine during the final 50km of racing at Il Lombardia. Reports are unclear but footage showed the Belgian hitting the barriers on the right-hand side of the road and flipping over the bridge and into a ravine that was covered by trees. Medical teams were quickly on the scene.

RAI television reported that the Deceuninck-Quickstep rider was conscious as medics arrived. Photos showed medics placing him in a precautionary neck brace and transporting him to a waiting ambulance.

Remco Evenepoel is a Belgian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Deceuninck–Quick-Step.

He collided with the wall of a bridge and was propelled onto his back and, horrifyingly, over the edge.

Colma di Sormano is the highest climb on the race circuit and Evenepoel was competing for Deceuninck-Quick Step.

A team statement read: "Remco Evenepoel has been tended to by the doctors and is now taken to the hospital with the ambulance."

Evenepoel finished in the No1 spot at both the Volta a Burgos and the Tour of Poland.

During the race the Tour of Poland, cycling fans witnessed another shocking crash last week.
