17- Year-old Kenosha Shooter Arrested after 2 Dead and 1 injured in Wisconsin Protest

17- Year-old Teenager Arrested after 2 Dead and 1 injured in Wisconsin Protest Shooting

A 17-year-old Illinois boy who made fatal shooting, left 2 dead and one injured during a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was arrested Wednesday morning, according to police in Antioch, Illinois.

Wisconsin authorities issued an arrest warrant charging Kyle Rittenhouse with first-degree intentional homicide, Antioch Police said.

Rittenhouse was arrested later Wednesday morning in Antioch, and he was taken to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center near Vernon Hills. An extradition hearing has been scheduled for Friday.

Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis confirmed that a 17-year-old Antioch resident has been charged in a shooting incident and said that the man "was involved in the use of firearms to resolve whatever conflict was in place."

He called the killings "senseless violence" and said he couldn't say what led to the shooting.

The arrest comes less than a day after two people were killed and a third was seriously wounded in the shooting during a protest over the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Kenosha Police Chief Daniel said the two people who were killed were a 26-year-old resident of Silver Lake, and a 36-year-old resident of Kenosha. A 26-year-old resident of West Allis was wounded, but expected to survive.

Several videos circulating in social medias and at the scene showed a person with a long gun opening fire during the protest. Police have not confirmed if Rittenhouse is the person in these videos.

The shooting took place around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday near 63rd Street and Sheridan Road in Kenosha, amid a third night of unrest following the police shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Blake.

Jacob Blake was shot and injured by police on Sunday as he leaned into his car and as his children watched.

Protests since then have turned violent, with two people killed and one injured on Tuesday night.
