Flood in China Amid Coronavirus ; Thirty Million People are in Fear of Death, 141 are Missing
Flood-hit southern and central regions of China. The rivers are flooded with torrential rain for days. As the dams opened, homes and buildings were flooded. More than three crore people are in fear of death. Chinese official television reports that 141 people have been killed or missing in the floods. The provinces of Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Sichuan and Guangxi were completely flooded.
Over 2 million people have been evacuated from flood-hit areas. Chinese President Xi Jinping has advised people to be vigilant and take steps to stay safe. More than 28,000 buildings were reported damaged in the heavy rains and floods. The loss is estimated at 82.2 billion yuan. Flood warning has been raised to level two in the southern region as heavy rains continue.
The Rainbow Bridge, built in Song dynasty more than 800 years in Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province, collapsed in flood. The 140 meter-long bridge has five apertures and four piers. Wuyuan has issued a "Rainbow Order" to seeks for the logs washed away by the flood. pic.twitter.com/3XvMBThvhd

In China, flood warnings are issued in four levels.Level one is the worst case scenario. The worst affected areas are the Yangtze River. The corona virus is in the water, including the city of Wuhan, where it was first reported. China has experienced heavy rains and flooding since last Monday. The Met Office has warned that the rains will continue for up to a month.
